EYFSAges 4 to 5

    Reception Phonics

Reception phonics practises what the EYFS framework expects by the end of the year: a sound for each letter, some digraphs, blending sounds to read simple words and sentences, and segmenting words to spell. Your child's school follows its own phonics programme, and the order it teaches sounds in may differ, so follow the school.

What children learn in Reception Phonics

Letter sounds: a sound for each letter of the alphabet (s, a, t, p, i, n and more)

Digraphs and trigraphs: two or three letters making one sound (sh, ch, th, ai, ee, igh, oa)

Blending sounds together to read words

Segmenting words into individual sounds for spelling

    How WonderPath teaches Phonics

    AI tutor that adapts

WonderPath's AI tutor adjusts difficulty in real time. If your child finds a topic easy, it moves on. If they struggle, it provides extra scaffolding and worked examples: just like a patient one-to-one tutor.

    Interactive activities

Every lesson includes hands-on activities: drag-and-drop puzzles, quizzes, drawing tasks, and creative challenges. Children learn by doing, not just watching, keeping engagement high.

    Progress tracking

Parents see where their child is thriving and where they need support. WonderPath tracks progress against each curriculum objective your child has practised and shows what comes next.
