Questions parents ask about WonderPath Phonics
- Which phonics scheme does WonderPath follow?
- WonderPath practises the letter and sound expectations set out in the National Curriculum for England. Schools follow their own validated phonics programme, and the order sounds are taught in can differ between programmes, so treat WonderPath as extra practice, not a replacement. If your school teaches a sound in a different order, follow the school.
- Why only Reception to Year 2?
- Our phonics lessons cover the Reception to Year 2 objectives, which is when most children are taught phonics. An older child who still needs practice with decoding is welcome to use them too; there is no age lock. From Year 3, reading and spelling continue in the Reading and English subjects.
- Does it need sound?
- Sound helps with phonics, but nothing essential is sound-only. Every activity can be completed with sound off.
